My Crazy Earth Day

Marti's Miscellany Days in the life of a Christian Furry Gamer

My Crazy Earth Day

Now that it’s the day after and I’ve had time to recover (okay, sleep), I can actually start to process what happened yesterday. Yes, it was Earth Day. No, I didn’t do anything for Earth Day… oh wait, yes I did. I think supporting Bernie Sanders by going to a town hall in Gettysburg was a good idea since he has one of the best environmental records out there… 🙂

First off, I got to spend most of the day with the always wonderful Amber, who I literally had not seen in 8 years. The last time we’d seen each other, I’d been frustrated with her “heathen, liberal views.” Now I share them, and almost share as much passion for them (I don’t think anyone could be more passionate about politics than Amber, and that’s a good thing).

Secondly, I totally cheated on my diet (a weird day being out all day does that) but I’m not angry at myself or giving up. That tells you how devoted I am to this whole thing. Back to it today and still feeling just fine. I did move around a lot yesterday, so I know it balanced it out too.

Third, I love Bernie. I didn’t get to meet him, but I could see his genuineness and his passion for the American people. He’s a genuinely good guy, and he backs up what he says. I loved that he also shared HOW he would get things done – which has been a major criticism that comes up from all sides. In his work in the Senate, he has shown that he can reach across the aisle and try to figure out something that works for everyone – and that’s the leadership we need right now.

Fourth, people who support Bernie are genuine, intelligent people – at least the ones that I met. I talked to a lot of people (I know, me!) and they all had thoughtful ideas to add to the conversation. I was wearing a “Pride for Bernie” pin and it was nice to be somewhere in southern PA where I wouldn’t be looked at with disdain for being LGBT. I know that there are some people who aren’t – but isn’t that true with all of the candidates?

Fifth, my anxiety is doing wonderfully. I didn’t wig out, I didn’t feel awkward, and I was actually able to talk to people around me. On top of that, I went out for my friend Dave’s birthday afterwards and was there for almost 4 hours. I made new friends and absolutely loved every minute of it. 🙂 Seriously, it couldn’t get any better. I am a little people tired today, but that’s the introversion and not the anxiety and it’s fabulous.

In between it all, I even got to see the fluffy puppies at Rob and Rob’s house! It was fantastic. I love those dogs.

All in all, I really do love my life right now. I really couldn’t have a much better life than I do right in this moment. So, to all of the people that I got to spend time with yesterday – thank you. You really made my day wonderful. I am so happy to live the life that I live.

And, now that I’m done gushing about how awesome my day was yesterday, I am going to answer some client emails because I left yesterday at 7:15 AM and got home at midnight. So yeah, have to play some catch up for life now!

Be Blessed,

Marti

“Do Not Judge My Story By the Chapter You Walked in On”

“Do Not Judge My Story By the Chapter You Walked in On”

Today, I saw an excellent picture on Facebook and it used the quote “Do Not Judge My Story By the Chapter You Walked in On.” For some reason, this really resonated in my soul. Think about how powerful those words are. How much of a difference would that make in our lives if we looked at other people this way?

Here We Go Again

Here We Go Again

First off, I know, I disappeared off of the face of the earth again. That was because moving was nuts. I’m so glad that I moved – trust me. I feel so much better being where I am now. I’m much, much closer to my church family and friends, and I’m nice and secure. I also love the fact that I am in a downtown setting again. That’s something that I missed.

Anyway, I wanted to talk about how I’m dealing with the biggest hurdle in my life – my weight.

Saying Goodbye to This Place…

Saying Goodbye to This Place…

As I write this entry, I sit in my bedroom, which is the only room which is still intact in my apartment. Everything else is torn apart, or empty. The living room is full of boxes and furniture. And I sit here, quietly, thinking about just how much I’ve gone through in this apartment. I kind of can’t believe that it’s time for me to say goodbye…

Overwhelmed by Love and Grace

Overwhelmed by Love and Grace

Today is Easter. Easter has always been a unique, special day to me, especially since I became a Christian. I’ve spent many of my Easters alone, mainly because I was far from my family and we didn’t usually have break during that period of time. So, I’d go to church and then go wander in the woods – it was a normal thing.

This year there was so much emotion. I know that I am super people’d out at this point, but gosh darn it, it was wonderful.
